take a walk where the locals go for an insiders view

description:

In Italy the Passeggiata is an early evening walk before dinner. This centuries old tradition is still practiced in small towns and cities throughout Italy today. We like to share this time-honored ritual with visitors during a relaxing stroll through Rome's historic quarter, showing off the city's world famous landmarks, fountains, quaint side streets and piazzas- away from the heavy traffic.

We can arrange this walk for you during ant time of the day, but our favorite time is 2-hours before sunset, when visitors can experience the sights, smells and sounds of every day life while taking in Rome's more important historic locations.  Rome is like a city made of rock and water, festooned with famous fountains – best experienced at dusk when they are lighting up and pouring shimmering blue light into the open air piazzas. These charming café-lined piazzas are not only full of history, they are alive with conversation and cuisine, like a living museum.

At the end of this tour your guide will be happy to assist with suggestions for authentic Italian restaurants in the area for dinner, or lunch.

     • Vittorio Emmanuelle Monument: The famous “Wedding Cake” building

    • Piazza Venezia: Full of history, from the Medici's to Mussolini

    • Piazza Navona: Artists and performers under Bernini's Fountain of 4 Rivers

    • Sacra Argentina: Ancient ruins and a famous cat sanctuary

    • Trevi Fountain: From Fellini's “La Dolce Vita”

    • Spanish Steps: A cascading place for Bohemians

    • Campo di Fiori: Once the piazza of public executions

    • Piazza Farnese: Architecture work by Michelangelo

    • Pantheon: An architectural wonder of the ancient world

     • Much much more...
